Topic: Help in finishing my Sandcast project

Hi All,
I restored my sandcast a few years ago and have almost 1000 miles on it since.  I now want to make my restoration a little more correct than it currently is.  The things that I know that I need to replace are as follows:

Real sandcast seat vs the Plastic pan repop that I have now.  Should I be getting a 10 hole Yamiya one or the 17 hole $1000 one sold on ebay?
Correct tank trim vs the later version that I have now
Correct Mirrors vs the cheap ones I have now
Correct grips-I have them, I just need to swap them out.
Re powder coat the center stand black-the guy put it in the wrong pile and it got the silver color like other parts
Get a new wiring harness as mine has 20+ repairs to it-I dread the tear down to make this happen.
Put progressive fork springs in as I now have a pogo stick front end.

I spent over $1200 on NOS HM 300 exhaust-was this a mistake vs the Yamiya Lotus root ones?

I ordered the Yamiya sticker kit and noticed many inconsistencies from my original rear fender sticker-unfortunately he would not grant me a refund.

Things that I have purposely changed to make it a rider/meet my personal taste are Dyna electronic ignition, Dyna coils and wires, Stainless steel hex bolts on the engine case covers and new tires.

The bike runs flawlessly/fires immediately and is very smooth since I synchronized the carbs.

The engine was rebuilt with all NOS parts with the 2nd oversize pistons and rings due to grooving in #2 cylinder.  Only thing not NOS were the APE studs.

What else am I missing?  All comments and suggestions are welcome!!

i have no idea on what you are missing but that is sure one beautiful bike i hope to have one half as nice as yours.

A beauitful machine already, congrats.
Only suggestion i can make is concerning the re-wire, take lots of photos, get a coupla books of wire markers and mark all wires before removal, keep a log saying where they go and get a big blow up, in colour, of the wiring schematic.
I am as dumb as a stump,especially electrically but my triumph started right up and all worked perfectly after a re-wire using these tips.

I say take care of the obvious stuff like the center stand and mirrors, seat, but the wiring harness...ooo boy.   While we're talking sandcast/K0, where'd you get your carb gaskets?  You're using the early 4-1 throttle cable correct?

Very nice bike indeed. I have been happy with all the parts I have received from Yamiya. Correct, the silver/brownish tire sticker on the fender I have not seen anywhere. But you have to get what you can and not get to nutso about a 40+ year old bike. I really like my Yamiya seat and would not trade it for anything. Besides the classic look it is very comfortable to ride and has held up very well since I got it 3 years ago. Now if you are looking for a concourse bike to show in New York, etc. then I guess you will have to keep looking for some of that difficult stuff, but most of what you mentioned are available from Yamiya. Good luck in your search.

Thanks for the comments guys.  fastbroshi- I reused the original carb body gaskets that were on the bike and they still hold fuel!!  I am using the correct Honda 4 into 1 throttle cable.  Does anyone know weather the correct seat for my VIN bike is the 10 or 17 hole seat pan?

I got an answer over on the SOOC forum that I should be using the 17 hole seat pan.  Does anyone have a seat from these guys?  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370380179830&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT  It is priced about the same as Yamiya's and is the 17 hole vs the 10 hole seat pan.  In addition, I now have the correct chain guard in place--Caught by an astute reader!!

That's a very nice bike. Well done. Why are your forks matt grey. Have you painted them?

Forks were sandblasted and then got a few coats of clear coat.  I need to change my fork seals and when I do , I plan on polishing the lowers.
