Best place to get CR Carbs for my 550
« on: July 10, 2010, 11:51:29 AM »
Where is ther best place to get CR carbs for my 550?

Thinking about making the leap to CR.....not happy at all with my stock PD's. >:(

Preferrably get them from a place that will set them up for me.

Any help/advice, please?

I'm not sure you'll get a bolt on set of carbs without some fiddling.  CR's on a stocker? Check for 26mm from Dynoman.

Are you not making headway with your PD's?

nope.  same problem i had with the "old" carb last night. :(  Then today, all 4 carbs are pouring fuel out the throats....so I took them apart, ran fuel out the carbs, re-installed the floats, and same problem.....so I'm done with them. >:(  I do longer want to play with them.  I'm done.

I shot "kos" an e-mail.....perhaps you are right, 26's are probably the best route.

Thanks for the info about Dynoman....I shot them an e-mail as well!

Got a reply from Dynoman:

Said they would work, but would be more carb than I need until wound up and at WOT.....but he had sold alot to guys running them on basically stock 550's.  And that, if I liked to keep her wound up, it would work great, just not as much low end power as stock carbs.

So, what about using some 26 CR's?

Well will they work...of course. Stock are 22mm so changing to 26mm will certainly change characteristics. You'll need to run pods because the airbox won't fit the CR's.

I would be curious to hear what anyone that has a set on a stock engine has to say too.

yeah, the guy at Dynoman said guys are running 29's on stock 550's and they are making extra power at WOT, but at lower RPM's power is suffering.

I asked him about 26's...haven't heard back yet. :-\

I'll use the factory velocity stacks
