Indicators, earth
« on: July 11, 2010, 03:19:44 AM »
Greetings  All,

I have an Australian delivery CB400F. Previous topics have noted that the indicators for this model, and some other delivery countries, have a single power wire with the earth exiting through the frame. In this case the earth travels from a soldered connection to the outside of the bulb socket, to a terminal which is screwed to the indicator shell. My question of the day is - how does the plastic shell earth out? I have checked all my connections, and confirmed that I have power to the base of the indicator bulb, and that I can earth from the socket to any other part of the bike frame. it seems that the screw which holds the earth terminal simply ends in the plastic of the shell. Is there some filament within this shell that connects with the indicator mounting bracket?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

The only plastic part of the stock turn signal housing should be the lens.  Everything else is metal.
