Check out this "Jerry Rig"
« on: July 11, 2010, 01:13:28 PM »
I picked up this 1976 CB750K for $200. I was thankful that the wiring hadn't been messed with(except for the faring). After closer inspection I found the P.O.'s  revolutionary solution to the common head gasket leak. Fill the "gap" with RTV!! Got a good laugh! :o

Glad to see the bike is in better hands now... Poor thing.
That's what I'd like to hear.

Did it stop the oil leak?  Might be good for a temp fix on the road.  Looks like a good bike for that price.
Good for you

I doubt it stopped anything. The oil looks like it just worked its way around it. If you blow a head gasket out on the road I think your screwed. Never happened to me. Usually the leak gets bigger and bigger, so when you get tired of cleaning it up you do the top end. Thanks, I have a couple of beaters. Just recently I sold a 1971 and my daily rider got backed into when my brother parked it in front of his house. I have to get something together and quick. I'll try starting it in a couple of days.

Found this under tips and tricks. He got a few miles out of it, seems like if it works it is a great temp fix.

Interesting. I never used "Tiger Seal" before. This stuff looks like silicone permatex that I could pick out with a screwdriver in about 2 minutes!
