its just blue polystyrene from lowes. it comes in a 4x8 foot sheet. its layered up, glued together with spray adhesive, then i cut it with a home-made hotwire cutter. the trick is to use 150-100 grit sand paper to sand it. slowly or it will tear out chunks.

I wonder if the pink insulation stuff would work?  It fairly dense.  I'll check the stuff out next time I there.  Thanks for the tip.

It's the same stuff.

Theres different grades (R rating) of the pink at the home depot down the street, but they usually only have one stack of the blue.  Was just wondering if the 'R' made a difference.  Guess I'll do the finger nail test, and see.   If not, then the best is the cheapest.

Someone else with a limited budget (and a dirty shop ) just went and bought a cheap bucket and mop set - used the bucket for his seat bump and then had a mop to clean-up with.

I'm in the middle of making my seat and I tell ya', I'm not very good with fiberglass. If anyone is making a seat for a 350/400 or knows where I can buy one already done, I''ll buy it.
