My newest Barn Find

72' 450 all stock except the handlebars (like you couldn't guess that) and the seat in the pictures. The original seat was on it when I brought it home but it was so rusted I just stripped the rubbers and latch off of it and tossed it in the garbage. The seat on it now is from a 350 that the guy gave me along with a ton of part boxes. I even got a few HD parts in the boxes. Other than the dirt and the surface rust it looks to be in good shape. Even the exhaust is solid. Best part is the title was found in the stock handlebars. I will technically be the second owner of the bike.

I have always wanted to do a full restore of a bike but every time I get a new bike I get it running and then just want to drive it rather than tare it down.

Think it is worth doing a full restore on?

 ;D Full restore, why not? At the very least you could make it presentable and beat around town on it. I always liked the 450's. Nice find!

It will never cease to amaze me what we as a society can do to a perfectly good machine, or rather what it does to itself from neglect. And how can one spend that much money on a machine, play with it for a while (guessing 12000 miles) and park it? Look at that rust! On the bottoms of the rear shocks. Geez Louise.

PS The handlebars had to be good for another 5MPH!

Hey, I guess I'm not the only one going over to the dark side. ;D  Last night after 10:00, a really nice guy came and looked-at and then bought my CB160.  Now I have the room to get that 1981 CB750K that I was looking at (and the wife won't complain too much ::)).  Its a runner and not in too bad a shape I think, but will require some clean-up and caliper work.  A NEW PROJECT!!!  8)
