How Can I Get A Key For My 1994 Cherokee?
« on: June 14, 2010, 01:00:18 PM »
I just went to the auto auction in Dallas and picked up a 1994 Jeep Cherokee with no key. So I was wondering what the best way to get one would be? I know I can call a locksmith to make one but I fear that would be pretty expensive anyone know of a cheap method?

Thanks!

Take the vin# to a jeep dealer and the parts guy can make you a new key.
I had to do thesame thing with an older Suburban.
You will need to take the tiltle or proof ownership with you though.

Do you think the WalMart key guy can do it or does it have to be dealer specific?

Went to the dealership got the key. Total out of pocket for the jeep so far;

$550 - Auction Price
$50 - Towing
$20 - Key

Starts up and just drove it around the block! Sounds pretty good too! I'm going to have to go get some gas though -.-

  Sounds like a COOL deal! Proud for ya. Be glad that it isn't like the '06 Grand Caravan I just traded off. replacement keys HAVE to be gotten at the dealership as thy have a computer chip in them and be successfully started and driven with one of those particular keys which has the remote to unlock the doors and such. I was gonna get me an extra made, when I bought that van, until I heard that it was $80!  The price of security, I guess!

I use spare keys.com  they ship the same day you urder.  The VIN# is all they need.  They can also replace the keyless entry if you want.

I just put it on Craigslist for $2,750.00 I don't think Im going to get that much but it doesn't hurt to try. I have $1,800 in student stuff I need to pay off and I'd rather not use my money. So If I can sell it for $2,750.00 that will leave me about $200 left over! Wish me luck!

Sold the truck today for $2000, wasn't as much as I hoped but my total profit after getting it titled and everything was $1,250 so not bad for a few hours of work! I'm going to go to the auction a week from Monday to look for another one! I'll keep you all posted!
