Cylinder head oil jets
« on: July 12, 2010, 12:14:31 pm »
The head is counterbored for the oil restrictor jets. Is it possible to have them too deep in the head? I just p[ut some in a head, and they seem low. The o'ring surface is about .090" below the head surface.

Hi, make sure that o ring seals on the bottom of that rocker box, and the the top of the oil restrictor jets,  or you may lose oil to the cam from leakage.

I checked only one head and on it the o-ring surface is 0.070" below the gasket surface, and the top of the restrictor closer at 0.007" below on one side and 0.012" the other. They obviously don't need to be flush with the surface as long as they are close and locate the o-ring.
