OK, I like to stay out of the politics so I'll just remain silent 8).

No the blue bike that didn't sell on ebay for 6800 was from a guy in San Clemente actually. I think he used to live in San Juan. I met him a while back when he was selling a couple other 74 and 75 750s and other stuff. The bike that didn't sell was supposedly built by some guy in Perris who likes to remain anonymous for some reason. I thought it was a K0 at first because I'm not aware of a 71 coming in the candy blue green but what do I know.  Mine is a Polynesian Blue Metallic. At least that's what it's supposed to be. I'm still fussin with it actually. And I'm having too much fun on my bikes to sell them. Actually looking for a K0 in decent shape once all the issues with the blue one are sorted out. Or maybe a third K1. I'm kinda partial to them.

politics and oil....

The blue bike looks great. That blue does look a little different than what Id expect, but I really like it all the same.

Yeah the blue is growing on me.

Back to the thread. It's creeping up again and now at 33K this morning. It would be funny if it didn't sell because the reserve wasn't met considering the rest of us know what the reserve is now. I gotta admit I'd love to have a brand new, never ridden, CB750 with 400 miles - but not that bad. Meanwhile, the rest of us scrap and search through junk yards and ebay trying to find a part that will work.

I would not want one at any price. K1 is somewhat similar in performance and the parts are out there. Ill stick with my K1.

Its at $33,000 right now. I have a feeling there are some padded bids in there.

Amazingly, at the end, some guy raised the bid by $7000 at one bid. WHY WOUld ANYONE RAISE IT $7OOO AT ONE TIME??? [Shill ? I doubt it.]

The "winner" [?] beat him with a silent, max bid in and took it for another $100 just as it closed!

Unique 750 for sure. But, how many super-nice 750's would $40,100 buy?

Mercy!!!!

And it will only stay super nice if he doesn't ride it. Makes no sense. I'd love to ride it around the block however.

I'm not gonna lie, I feel a strange, disembodied pride in seeing a 750 sandcast going for that much.

I also feel a great joy in knowing my K3/6 mutt will never follow in price, accordingly.

Well the current ebay sand cast is VIN 122. Can't get much lower than that. The guy claims that equates to the first week of CB750 production. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200497913201&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

The first 220 or so had different engine cases, the crank changed at around #1100, And the frame shortly after.

So on an early one, if anything has been changed out, it can be real tough to find the correct stuff..
