Get the one with the 17mm head.  WAYYY better than the 12mm stock head.

The cheap ones might be made of soft metal.

It's not a simple bolt, you know.  It also has a spring relief valve built into it.

I wonder how much quality control inspection went into that $4 bolt?  What do you suppose the relief pressure is on those?

I believe the bolt head was purposely left small so people wouldn't put the normal torque used on a 17 mm bolt while installing the oil filter.
A stripped bolt head is annoying.  But, not too difficult to repair.  A stripped engine case is  :o  :-\ :'(  $$$$  More expensive than the entire oil filter assembly.

Ive got what I think is a 22mm bolt on my 76 750 K  :o I know its not a 21mm cause I went and bought a new 21mm socket to use on it and it was too small. Its an aftermarket filter housing so I guess the bolt came with it.

Maybe $19.95, but you'll wait six months for it only to get the wrong part.  Did you see the other post about them?

Price is important, but everytime I pay one buck for an oil seal I know that part of that money will be used to stock parts with less turnover. That's the price you have to pay -no pun intended- for parts availability. Is there another brand with a higher parts availability?
