WoW, they tried to kill me today but it was a girl and she used a car at an intersection. Not to worry, I gave her the evil eye.  >:(

Which 'hood are you in?  I go through dicey areas all the time, but luckily have never experienced a "cap show" up close.  I know Chicago shortens one's life expectancy, but usually its due to the stress of being fleeced by corrupt and inefficient city government.

Glad you are all unshot and so forth.

Why Portland?  Why not some smaller population city?
Big cities are nice to have somewhat nearby, but there's no point in living in one if you have a choice.
I live 45 miles from Minneapolis in a little farming town.  Close enough that I can get to a Best Buy or some cool places to go watch live music, but far enough that we avoid most of the crap that goes with cities.

I threw up in my mouth at even the thought of me being a hipster.

Good, because that is the only correct response. :-X ;D

Yes except worse. They act like hippies and listen to hippieish music,BUT they spend mass amounts of money on awful clothes and fake clear lenses glasses.

I was at Broadway and Irving park, so its not like a very dicey neighborhood, in fact I was on my way home from the end of lake shore and that was a shadier neighborhood, so I was a bit started when the shooting was going on by my house.

I fell in love with Portland when I went out there to visit my family. It was an awesome city that was very clean and had really friendly people. However I would not be opposed to living in say Beverton or one of the very close suburbia places.

i saw a shooting in my small town a few years ago, about 30 now.

Lady ran over to a car, there was a shot from the car, lady fell down and then jumped up
and went back after the car. I thought they were funnin. I went in the store and driving back
they paramedics were loading the lady in the ambulance. I stopped by and asked about it since
I saw it. They said, yep, she was shot in the chest (pretty well point blank) with a .38. Bullet hit a rib
went down and exited her stomach. That's why I carry a .45. This happened in Robeson County NC in the little
town of Fairmont, population about 2,000, a farming town. Our little county had the distinction of
having more people on death row than 39 states in the union at one time.

I wish I could say these were extreme examples, but they're really not.

They also have a tendency to pepper their speech with British slang, and that, plus his age is why I asked Croix if he was one of them.

Sorry you had a close call Croix. Don't let it bother you to much. I was held up a few times in the city and saw a drive by in hubolt park. I was riding my bicycle home from work and somewhere around rockwell, when a van lit up a bunch of kids on a corner. scared me at the time, but I got over it. I also was almost car-jacked by a woman with scissors on lake and  damen, but that's another story. It does stink when its near your flat though.

All the hipsters I know buy used clothing, are well read and have great record collections; so I don't know where you guys are coming from.

Btw, did you fit that tire yet Croix?

I get ya I didnt let it bother me too much, just more or less a bit pissed. The histers I know have MP3 players with bad bands like 3OH3?

As far as the tire goes Yamaha Norman from chivin mounted it realy quick for a good price, THEN i got brake issues from my rear AND front calipers. I just "rebuilt" my rear caliper I picked up from Ted on here. I am planning on meet up with Big Bob some time this week to see if he had a front caliper that I can pay him for. Hope to see you at some of the chivin night Mike.

We've had 9 cops shot in the last 2 years in New Zealand and while that may seem tame compared to the U.S. when you think we have barely 4 million people on these 3 islands it's quite a lot.
This week two cops went door to door looking for a mental patient but instead smelled dope and decided to do an impromptu bust, unfortunately as our cops don't carry guns (left in car boot in lock box) and the criminals do they came off second best.
This led one local cartoonist to supply this to the paper. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Whenever you see violence up close and personal it does affect you.
I believe no matter where you live in The USA you will run into it.
If you wish to find somewhere  with little violence you will have to
move to a European country.

Don't forget the other 4 million living in Oz, (and mostly on the dole.............) Hushy!  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Doesn't living on the dole in Oz mean you get
one sheep a week to get by?

Hey Terry, when our jails got to overflowing we had to send them somewhere and as your country is a penal colony originally we thought why not Oztrailier! :D
On a brighter note, I am considering retirment in Oz, you guys look after your oldies better than here in Godzone so work hard Terry, you may be working to pay my superannuation. ;D

I hear the stabbings were down, although you did just have the crazy Roul guy, with people saying he is a hero for killing 2 people and blinding a 3rd, whats wrong with people.

In your dreams Hushy, UnZud was where we sent the overflow of convicts once Port Arthur was closed down, but I believe that the Maori's ate most of them, so most of the white Kiwi's are just descended from Pommy back packers who couldn't afford the return flight. I'm pretty sure you're too old to migrate legally mate (the Oz government doesn't want you unless you're a potential taxpayer) so if you decide to become an "asylum seeker" you better fly over, Queen Julia is telling us that she's gonna send all the "boat people" to East Timor, or New Guinea, or possibly, New Zealand?  ;D
