Nothing runs like a Deere or is that Honda

Saw a different cb500 on ebay - think the guy watches OCC to much and wanted to build his own theme bike.

Now that is unusual. I would bet money that most of the 14 ( :o) bids are from Iowa, Nebraska, etc.  ;D

I would never buy or be seen in one like that, but once that said, I recognize that I like it!!!! Specially the seat. And the rest of accesories, like the footboards, add to the final picture. Well, maybe I would have it if I already had another 10 or 15 different bikes, so this one will only be one more for the collection, not the only one I had.

Coming from a farm background, I like it.  John Deere is as big a cult as Harley-Davidson. Orange County Choppers would charge $50k

As the owner of a 1928 John Deere Model D and an aficionado of all things Deere, I can say that is the coolest thing I've ever seen.   :o Could take to MC events as well as tractor shows. Much easier than haulin' that old tractor around...

I would but it just because when I go to a rally I KNOW I WILL NOT SEE ANOTHER LIKE IT. I like it, but I am sicko.

Personally I wouldn't care to own it, but I too think it's pretty cool. I would imagine a biker/farmer in agriculture would love to ride to Grange meetings on it.  ;)

A nice idea but there is something incongruous about this. My CB idles faster than most John Deere's run wide open. Is there ANY part on a Deere that has ever seen 10000rpm?

My apologies to the builder, but I wouldn't be caught riding that out of a forest fire!

I am in Iowa, and I gotta tell ya'...I think this is funnier than hell!
However, the tractor seat does not look very user-friendly. Someone obviously put alot of work into this piece. And,although I am a 58 year-old city kid,I know that most farmers,by their nature, are mechanics, engineers and blacksmiths. I can imagine this was someones winter project.
Iowa: so cold this winter some of us are wearing shoes.
Good day to all...love the forum.

Well I find it much nicer than the tripe that comes from OCC, but then that wouldn't take much. Its a novel approach to the cookie cutter customs out there. Definitely an ice breaker for sure.

Touch up paint would be easy to find.

Would you nod and wave at other tractors, motorcycles or both?

You would need a helmet with a seed corn paint theme. (you midwestern guys know what I mean)

Our old Deere came with a two speed transmission: "Slow" and "Slower."  :D

I'm from Kansas, and like the others I wouldn't own it, but think its pretty cool. Like was stated earlier, Deere has its own culture around here. I probably know guys who would love to own that, to go with the rest of their John Deere paraphernalia. Considering it was all in fun, and more or less poking fun at OCC's "Theme Bikes", that puts it up there a few notches in my opinion.

Thanks,
David

Yep that makes my backend ache just looking at it...

... hmmm, if I could win that, put a draw bar on it, hook up to back blade, hay bine, bailer and plow according to season. It could be fun!

i immediately thought about this bike!
