CB750 Condenser
« on: February 15, 2006, 10:08:10 AM »
Can anyone tell me why I should consider paying my local Honda dealer $ 18.00 for one condenser - # 30250-300-154.   Its just a capacitor - probably worth a few bucks.

Also, does anyone have the specs on this condenser - voltage?  Capacitance?

I've rebuilt four sohc4's now and have yet to buy anything from the dealer.  There may be a few rare parts that you can't get anywhere else, but for the most part everything can be purchased from online suppliers.  If you don't mind waiting a few days and paying much less, that is. ;)

Whatever you can fit under the cover should work. A parts guy told me they aren't even voltage sensitive, the same one would work for 6 or 12 volt systems. Haven't tried that though.

Hi Mike; The capacitor value is .22 uF (microfarad). Keep in mind of the polarity if you replace it with a generic part. The capacitor should be rated at least 12 volts. You can use higher voltage rated ones if you wish. Keep in mind it gets pretty hot on a bike engine so choose a capacitor suited for high temperature use.
