OMG it ran!
« on: February 13, 2006, 05:28:09 PM »
I wanted to say thank you guys for all the help in my previous thread.

my 1982 cb650sc is back up and running!

I got 4 carb rebuild kits from siruis consolidated and replaced everything but the needle assembly and when I put it all back together it started right up.

now I just need to fine tune it as it sounds really rough (replaced the pilot screws so I'll just have to readjust them)(any advice on this respect is welcome)

that and theres a decent gas leak on the right side of the bike but I beleieve its from that stupid vacuum thing that I reconnected on a whim.

You guys rock

...rought idling can be a symptom of the carbs being out of sync.

Well done!!  As for the pilot needle, check the service manual, they should have a setting listed to use as a starting point (like turn all the way in then open it up a full turn and a half... at least I think that's ther recomended starting point on my 750)

And LUMBEE, the pic in your avatar, is that a CHERRY BOMB muffler on your bike?

...it is indeed a cherry bomb  ;D  It was on another bike that I bought a few months back, and it matched the paint on my daily rider so I hooked it up.  I'm told its a glass pack...its got a nice throaty growl to it!!!

good work man!

I attempted to start mine yesterday, but fell short due to a dead battery. charged it overnight and hopefully will get it started for the first time tonight!
