Got my bodywork the other day and I mounted it up to see how its all looking...  Right now the seat and tank are just set on the frame and nothing is bolted down so it might not be in perfect alignment...  I'm still trying to decide on my plan for paint.
Next up I'll be trying to find a way to mount the battery.  I need to find a small battery that will be easy to hide somewhere.  Any suggestions on especially slim batterys?

Here a few pics of the tank and seat:

So how do you like it? Is it good quality and bolts right on? Worth the money?

I really like it. It looks good and feels really sturdy.  It looks like it should bolt right up to the frame and everything seems to fit together nicely.  The only complaints I have is even though it was shipped primed, it has a few imperfections that I need to sand out.-but nothing major.  Also, I thought the taillight would sit flush against the seat cowl, however when its pushed in all the way it still sticks out about a quarter of an inch.
Overall I'm really happy with it.  It was pretty expensive but in my opinion it was worth the money because it really improves the aesthetics of the bike.  Also, BCR was really easy to deal with and answered all my questions right away.  I'm sure plenty of you have already visited the BCR site, but if you havent the address is http://www.benjiescaferacer.com/
I'll try to post a few more pics of the bodywork soon.

What kind of ideas are you tossing around for paint?

I think this bike is going to look great  :)

I need some input...
Here is the original AJS logo:

Here is the logo I designed(the gold color inside would be goldleaf) :

I think it's a great idea!

From a design point of view, I wouldn't bother with the white stroke and black drop shadow. You'd be better off with a simple, consistent black stroke like the original AJS logo; easier to read and more faithful to the original. Probably cheaper to have painted too.

Yeah I agree with Jinx, the drop shadow and white stroke make it look a little 'clip artist' I think. Stick with the vintage feel.

thanks for the encouragement.  its fun to see things start to take shape.

Jinx and Rick, I think I agree about keeping the logo simple and going with just a simple black outline instead of the white outline as well.

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with paint and I am definitly open to ideas and input.  I havent made any decisions for sure yet but I had been leaning towards using gold and black.  I did a few photoshop versions of the bike using different combinations of black and gold and these are the results.  I'm definitly going to keep playing around and experimenting though.

Here is the original un-altered pic:

I keep looking at both paint options and seriously can't decide which I like better. I've flip-flopped about nine times so far.  Either way, it's going to look killer.

Hey sorry its been so long since my last update... I'm a highschool teacher and school just started so I've been pretty busy these days.  I'm still not completely sure on what I want to do with the paint yet, but I am definitly leaning towards the second photoshop option with the black on the outside.  we'll see though, i might try a few different photoshop mockups with some other color schemes. cdoggy, thanks for posting those pics.  Those are all nice bikes to use as inspiration.
Over the weekend I've made a little progress.  I decided to mount a small digital speedometer.  I like the look of just the tach mounted in the center so I wanted the speedo to be fairly inconspicuous.  I picked the speedo up from a bicycle shop down the street.  Out of the box it had bicycle logos on it and was made of an ugly smoke colored plastic so I painted it black and gold to match some of the other accents on the bike.  It shows speed, odometer, trip mileage, average speed, clock, etc....

Im running the stock cluth lever/cables on a universal clutch perch that I got from dennis kirk.

For the throttle side I'm running the stock brake setup with a throttle housing also from dennis kirk to eliminate all the buttons and the stock housing for a cleaner look.  All of the cables are stock.

Hey everyone, sorry it's been so long since my last update.  I teach at a highschool so since the school year has started I've been pretty busy and haven't had much time to work on the bike.  I'm home sick today so I figured I'd share a pic of my new "furniture" in my apt...  Here in Fargo, ND it is just about impossible to work outside in a garage during the winter so I brought the bike in so that I could get it ready for winter.  haha thank god I have an understanding girlfriend.
