Thanks for the info old75 ," What do you mean running in 3rd or 4th is around 35mph is 3000?" yup ,cruisin speed. What are the chances of the tach beeing off, is that a common issue ?

Well, after all this messin' round , finally been riding this thing, and I think its been runnin pretty dang good, a few tweeks here , an adjusment there and all is pretty much solid. Thinking It is need of some new throttle cables, still kinda high on that idle , and intermittent , but can deal with it.

Im not 100 % there , yet, but then again , are theese bikes ever really 100 % done, im thinkin not, and thats what keeps us comin back for more . Winters comin on real fast here in MN so in going to get out there and enjoy this bike as much as possible , cheers !!!

Since i'm having the high idle issue as well, i'll keep you posted on my progress and hopefully a final solution with the help of the Morgan Carbtune I just purchased.

Well, I think I may have jinxed myself

Took the bike out on a pretty long cruz yesterday, stopped and got a coffee ,and we got back on the road , was getting up around 50 mph or so and I thought I felt something miss, then was fine, then cut out again , and then just started loosing power, so I just limped it home, sounded really rough. Felt the headers and #'s 2/3 were cold , im suspecting something is amiss with the coils, or condensers, maybe

I dont know, im not a Doctor

I just put it in the garage, havent really looked it over yet, was late and had to get going.
The other day I could hear what I thought was my valves clicking, so before the ride ,I went through them and they were a lil tight , so readjusted them , but the noise did not go away, am also leaking a gas out of #3 carb, took a pic and you can see a puddle under the bike, btw the bike next to mine is a cm 400 a buddy of mine picked up at an auction that he "ratted" out, even left the auction # on it, its a pretty fun bike to ride........

Pulled the coils and got that fancy multi meter out : coil 1/4 > plug wires 15.25 , small wires ( primary ) 4.1 ,,,coil 2/3 > plug wires 14.25 , small wires ( primary ) 4.1
Are those plug wire readings to far apart ? Should I be lookin into get myself a new set of coils ??

Well for the money, I would say get a new pair. Mine were about the same reading and what I found out was the one just crapped out on me one day. I changed them both out and much much better.. I you can do it, do it. You don't want the coils going on you when you out enjoying the ride.

Just my opinion tho.. May want to wait for others to chime in.

Yeah, I never got a response on those readings , thanks Scott, I did end up putting in new points and condensors , the 2/3 condensor was not working when I was trying to time the bike a few months back, so i swapped out a condensor off an old set of points I had laying around , then every thing seamed to be in working order. Since ive put this newst set in, have not had any problems , as of yet, so could still be a coil, but probably wont know till spring time , as winter is staring to kick in here in MN, and who know when the next time will come when I can go out on a long ride

Just don't get the one from vietnam they take FOREVER to arrive and can get lost. My first one was fine (although took a month) 57 business days on the second one and were still trying to figure out where it is.

Ouch , that's a long time to wait , mine is from USA , eBay , not sure if it is actual NOS or a re-pro. But I've been needing one real bad , hoping it here buy the end of the week...... Next on the list are some new tires , lookin into some conti-go ! , buy continental , anyone know anything , good / bad ? Let me know . I'll post some pics of the seat when it arrives , over and out .

Im so happy

This thing is almost an inch and a half taller then the last seat , from years and years of people sitting on it and squishing it down, cant wait to try it out. Have to swap out all the hardware, and be carefull getting the old rubber stoppers out , dont wanna eff em up.
