Attack of the SOHC !!
« on: July 19, 2010, 10:33:34 AM »
This happened in my garage, just rolling the K8 out to ride after a tune up, Old Ned really believes in bike karma and thinks my hell #$%* heard me say I was taking her out to the back roads  to wring it out ! I simply stepped on my rolling stool and in an instant it crashed over onto me smashing my hand with the broken mirror, lacerations and two fractures behind my knuckles, very painful and for 6 weeks it will be very hard to turn wrenches! And I have a shop full of work! Lesson learned !!
Sorry about the crappy audio, pics tell the story of my pain!

Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !

Ouch!

Holding a cold beer while watching Ned replace the mirror on your bike will do wonders for your recovery.  :-)

BTW, no video was attached.

Hmm, now there is a video in your original post too.  Might be the crappy computers here at work.

Looks like you did a real number on your hand.  I defiantly prescribe some beer to help that along.   ;D

OK I swear I was stone ass cold sober when this tragedy occurred, I was super into running my bike hard, all psyched up for some twisties and acceleration runs and was completely devastated b-4 I rolled out of the shop, as Ned says: bad bike karma, I say careless stupidity , at any rate I ain't riding for a while, which is going to hurt because I need to hear the SOHC wail thru the V&H pipes at least every other day, it is for my mental health, I sent the bike over to Ned so I want be tempted to pull my cast off!!

I came close recently - just got off the K3 after a good long but chilly ride and ALMOST forgot to put it on the stand! For a split-second my brain thought it was Ok to dismount and let the bike find a spot. Just caught my mind and the bike in time.
On Sunday last, I took another chilly ride and stopped in a small town 20 miles away for gas and a couple of guys on their expensive Jap tourers pulled up on the roadside opposite where there is a mobile coffee shop. They reversed their bikes up with motors running and one guy just let it go - 1300cc Suzuki went bash, crash with the motor running for a second till it cut. Heard the shrieks and explatives from the fuel pump. Broken indicator and some fairing damage. He was not happy and needed a double shot in his long black.
