As far as sidecovers go I sanded out the dust and orange peel. Then fund a good way to buff them out without breaking them or sending them flying across the room. They truned out pretty nice. Next up the tank. I put 2 more coats of clear on the tank because it is subjected to gas and direct sunlight. I will sand it down with 1500 grit to knock down the orangepeel and buff it out real good and I should be done with that project. Of course I put everything away for a few weeks to cure nice and hard.

Great idea though for better overspray control I'd put two exhaust fans on the back wall were the current intake filters are located and then put two intake filters in the ceiling.  This will give you a nice controlable down draft   ;)

ARRGGHHH!!! FRUSTRATION!!!

Friggin dust! I can't get rid of it. I'm working in a small 5' x 8' visqueen room, I've taken precaution to keep it clean. I'm using lint free rags but everytime I tack wash it with alcohol or acetone dust always finds it's way to my paint job. This morning I was ready to clearcoat and after fighting dust I looked the tank over good and no dust. I spray a coat of clear on and it looks like I rolled the tank on a dusty carpet. I couldn't believe it. I don't even know where this dust is coming from. This is the biggest reason I will take the tank out to have painted professionally. I've been fighting dust at every step of the paint process. I'm pulling my hair out at this point. I guess I'll be sanding it agian once this coat dries.

Just venting.  :P

Quit worrying about the dust, it will sand right out when you cut and buff it.  You will never see so much as a single speck of it in the final job.  Oh, and the dust itself, its not what you may think it is.  It is not god-sent dust come out of the collisions of the cosmos, its created right there at the spray cap out of flash-dried paint - you are making your own dust as you spray.  Anyway, don't worry about it.  The place where you need to be very careful not to have any dust is on the basecoat before you shoot your clear, and that's what your tac-rag is for.  The easiest way to deal with it for a real nice finish is to simply shoot your clear, let it set overnight (or a few days), sand it flat and then flow-coat it.  Give it another day or better yet two to set up and then cut and buff and it will knock your eyes out.

Thanks Kong, I inadvertantly discovered that. What do you mean flow-coat? I am at the point of getting ready to buff it. If it isn't up to snuff I may spray more clear to thicken and toughen it up against the elements but for now it has four coats of clear.

the first coat or so can be a little dry if you are afraid of fish eyes or it raising, the last coat needs to flow out, A good wet coat.

See what you mean but its a positive pressure system the fan is pushing air THROUGH the booth not sucking it  ..
