Is there such a car as a "skoda"??
Linda
I drive a Skoda. Had a good chuckle at the ad, though
Car of the Year in Denmark in 2000 as well as 1996 (thereabouts, memory fading). One of the oldest manufacturers in Europe. In the 20s considered one of the finest cars in production. Produced in the eastern bloc, but still having a quality of build and finish to make it an attractive buy in the west. Owned today by VW, acts as a testing ground for new models such as the Polo and Passat, as well as Audi. One of the few completely galvanised cars available at the time
. In all ways the "eastern" Skodas as well as the "VW" Skodas where and are excellent value for money, probably the best value for money cars available today! Lots of people make (pretty good) jokes about Skoda here in Denmark, but Skoda owners here are one of the fastest growing groups of car owners, with good reasons. If there are any Czechs out the, you have good reason to be proud.
BTW my daily ride is a two stroke MZ from Zschopau in East Germany, probably about 100km from the Skoda factory. Another "joke" bike, but tough as bloody nails, quality parts, easy to fix, illustrious history and with a huge fan community....a Skoda on two wheels. Both Skoda and MZ are relatively unknown outside of Europe, but if you can get your fingers in one you wont regret it! There!
