The "Tail" is cool, but is just the tip of the iceberg.
All the roads in that area are awesome.
If you make it there, be sure to stop into the kickstand lodge.

Heading there next week, unfortunately my CB isn't ready for the dragon, gonna have to take my kawi instead! I just read that they have had 3 fatalities on the skyway in the last seven days. It gets crazy down there!

I had heard that parts of the dragon were closed for the last several months due to landslides.  I'd love to ride it.  I hope to get my CB down there next year.

The cafe racer is a friend of mine, Brian, he works for Biker Performance.  There were 35 of us down there last week, 105 deg. in the shade.  The Dragon had just opened on the Friday before we arrived so it wasn't that busy.  Things were real cool, until we tried a road called the Devil's Trinagle.  A technical road just like the Dragon, but it's not maintained and it is covered in gravel and dust.  It was great up until the halfway mark when I throttled out of a left handed right behind Brian.  I saw his back wheel slip sideways a bit but he collected it and was fine.  I on the other hand had the front wheel break loose and lowsided the bike.  The bike hit the wall then flipped twice. I suffered some roadrash on my left arm, but the Roadie bit the dust hard, nearly $5000 of damage... so I got a winter project now.

Well, I was following a cafe racer with an insane rider on board and I was riding the Stooge a '02 Roadstar chaindrive with 250 rear tire.



And I was right behind Brian, so I was pushing 8 or 9 on that scale.  Getting on it probably 'caused the front tire to unweight enough to exceed it's adhesion factor in the dust.  Easy to armchair quarterback now that its over, but I'd probably do it again.

That is 1 sick bike! I checked out the devis triangle website after reading your post, because I will be riding  it in a couple weeks. There are warnings up because of the terrible road conditions! Potholes and coal dust, not a good combination; I'll be taking it easy! Good luck puttin the stooge back together!
