Hand Drawn Gas Tank Art
« on: July 19, 2010, 07:28:03 PM »
Wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured here was the best place.

I just happened to have a spare tank lying around that was looking pretty rough, so I figured I'd get a little creative with it. This is what I came up with. Just curious what you guys thought. I'm in the process of building a 550 Cafe and was thinking about putting this on it (at least for a little while).

Should the design stay as-is, or should I finish it all the way down the side of the tank?

Thanks for looking.

Sweet googlie-mooglie, that is bad. a$$!

Finishing it down the sides might end up making it too "busy," so personally, I'd leave it there and build a sweet bike around it.

It's actually a rattle-can base coat, and then I bought a "paint pen" from the craft section at Wal-mart.  :D
Once I figure out what I'm going to do, I'll clear coat over it.

I think Crippler's right, it'd be too busy if I did the whole thing. I was also thinking about doing a couple inches along the bottom of the tank, then again, it's hard judge if that'd look alright without seeing it.... I have a feeling I'll leave it as is.

I'm diggin the eyeball. Is that on a finished bike? I'd like to see it.

It does look a lot like Keith Haring. I've been doing drawings like that since I can remember. I still have notebooks from when I was in the 6th grade of this style.... gonna have to see if I can go find them  :D
