Howdy from the Land o'Lakes
« on: July 20, 2010, 12:26:41 PM »
I've been lurking for a fair bit of time now... took me months to figure out what lurking meant.  Didn't want to be a lurker and figured now is as good a time as any to hop on board.  Currently no bike.  Had a Honda Shadow that I gave to my brother when I had my first kid - 8 years ago.  Doh!  Now that I've been w/o a ride for so long (aside from the occasional spin on my bro's bikes), I've been getting the itch.  I'm thinking of a 550 stripped and cafe'd and have been checking out the amazing projects of other SOHC4 members, which just makes it worse (better?).   A few wishes in no particular order:

A) wife buys into it
B) starter bike is cheap and parts fall into my lap
C) wife continues to buy into it once she belatedly realizes it will not be a 2-up seat

I appreciate the time the moderators and other members put into this site - it is fantastic and I look forward to many more visits.
Cheers,
G

Welcome and good luck finding a ride. It shouldn't be too hard. You are obligated to posted a pic when you do, of course.  ;)
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Welcome from WI. I see a lot of bikes listed in the MN area frequently. Good luck on your search. I have attached a check list I use to keep me on track when I am looking at a potential buy.
1970 CB750K0 - Candy Ruby Red
1973 CB750K3 - Candy Bacchus Olive or Sunflake Orange
1970 Chevy Chevelle SS396 - Cortez Silver
1976 GL1000 Sulphur Yellow

Johnie and Bob,
Thanks for the welcome.  Just to clarify, pics of wife or bike...? ;)  I really appreciate the check list;  I'm eyeing a '78 550k for $800.  Supposedly solid runner and doesn't look too beat up.  Ideally I'll find something that I can putz around on for the rest of the summer and then tear into over the looooong frigid MN winter.

Welcome to the forum gman. I live in Minneapolis as well and there are other forum members in the area. Let me know when you get your bike and we can go for a spin. PM your contact info to me sometime.

Vance,
Thanks for the welcome.  The bike I'm eyeing is currently on Clist; I have tentative go-ahead from my better half, so we'll see.  If I do manage an acquisition, I'll definitely hit you up.

Cheers,
Greg
