"DUNSTALL POWER" tank cover stckers/decals
« on: February 17, 2006, 03:13:25 AM »
Hi SOHCers

Any DUNSTALL SOHC owners out there..?

Im looking for some Dunstall tank cover decals/stickers...I dont have 1 to copy/reproduce......

A 74/5 brochure shows a square.....ish... decal with a black background, the word dunstall in small letters and a silencer type design with "power"on it underneath the "dunstall" part...

Please does anyone out there have any decals or know where I may find some..? the finishing touch for my Dunstall project....eventually...!

Anyone know if any  production records exist for these bikes...?Most were a DIY owner assembly job,but some were probably built as complete bikes by Dunstall..

Any help would be great

Thanks

Safe rides

Too many years ago to remember the dealer I worked for did a lot of business with Mr paul Dunstall, to the effect that we had two or three ex show bikes on a sale or return basis. I work permanent nights Sunday to Thursday and if you want to ring my mobile, subject to the usual black holes, you are most welcome and i will try and get the brain working. Do so after 7pm and dont withold your number. Do it from a landline or other vodaphone and i may even ring you back. The number is 07795162623
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Hiya, I think it's a badge not a sticker, check this pic out (not my bike, just a pic I had somewhere). I'd like a pair of the badges too tho.

Hi UK,
I am also building a Dunstall Honda.  Still in the early stages though.  So far I have acquired the GT fairing, Dunstall Exhaust, and 2 Lesters.  I wanted the mag wheels as a different look to the classic spoked.  About the decals:  That Dunstall Power tank decal is not a badge but a foil decal.  You cannot get them anywhere that I am aware.  I have been loking for them for quite a while.  So the only other option is to make some.  The problem with this is that most decal places I have looked at want to run a batch of 100-200 decals.  Much more than I would ever want or need.  I spent quite a bit of time making a template for the decal.  It's not perfect.  The "power" needs some work but overall its not bad.  I was leaning toward doing the tank decal in silver leaf rather than paying for 100-200 decals.  Also the "Dunstall Honda 900" decal that goes on the fairing is unobtainable.  This one is easier to make because it's just lettering.  The template is too large to post on the board.  Send me an email and I will send it to you: rooksm95@mail.buffalostate.edu

Post it in the new gallery Rookster.

You'll have to register first (sorry - it's a different application on the host), create your own album in the Member's section and post away.  1.5G limit.

Peter Jones had some made that he was offering for sale back in the spring.  Give him a shout maybe he has some left:superbiker_uk@btinternet.com
That picture is of the first dunstall kit for the cb750.  He didn't offer complete hondas at that point.  The later style is the one with the rectangular foil decal.  Check out the woodgate site for anything dunstall: http://www.woodgate.org/dunstall/index.html
You may also want to check old suzuki web forums.  The foil decal was the same for all dunstalls after 1972 or so.
good luck

My findings.
Derek,
Here are the samples of the Dunstall Honda decals. The width of each decal is 4 1/2 inches. The triangular version was used on Hondas from 1971 to 1973.
Dunstall used the "Dunstall Power" version on Hondas, Kawasakis, and Yamahas from 1974 to 1982. The triangular version is currently available for $5.00
ea.  The "Dunstall Power" decals will be available within the next few weeks. We're not sure of the price yet, but they will probably be a bit more expensive due
to the cost of the silver foil they will be printed on. Please excuse the image quality as this is a scan of an original decal with it's protective wax paper still in
place.

To those of you interested, we now have a variety of faithfully replicated Dunstall and Gus Kuhn decals available. The currently available designs are shown in the "Misc." section of our website. We will have more replica designs coming soon. While the 'Dunstall Power' artwork shown on our website has a grey/silver background, the decals are actually printed on mirror foil as per the originals.
