more questions for my put together
« on: July 22, 2010, 06:10:38 PM »
Hey guys thanks for all the help so far.  Okay I've mounted the engine which was heinous to do alone but after using a couple of tie downs and a jack things went in...after four hours.  I've pretty much installed everything else that came apart such as the carb, oil tank and started putting the electricals together.  at this point i have two crucial questions,
1. where does the rear brake stop light switch mount on the frame?  I've looked on parts diagrams and they dont show it.
2. the ground for the battery mounts to where on the frame?  I;ve been puzzling over this and decided go to the gurus in case i screw it up and then cause ten times more problems for myself.

The brake switch should be obvious, there's a metal bracket with a switch-size hole above where the brake pedal has a little eyelet thingy for the switch spring to attach.
The battery ground attaches with one of the rear engine mounting bolts, the exact one should be the one the wire reaches comfortably and routes to the battery nicely. You should file or sand the frame boss and the terminal ring to bare metal to ensure a good solid electrical contact. Put some dielectric grease on the frame and terminal ring to help prevent corrosion.

thanks bodi for the response, will do on the battery ground.  but the metal bracket for the stop switch....cant find it ???  i know it has to be located near the rear brake spring, but I can't find where to mount it, the closest place I've found was the lowest oil tank mounting bolt....sorry for the newbie questions :-X still trying to figure everything out, it wouldve been great if i was the one to have disassembled it...
