That is brilliant! What a great daily rider that would be! I wonder what he's gonna use his oil tank for, apart to hold the sidecover on? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Looks like this later model K received the same modification:

Where'd you find that pic mate? It looks better than the other one! Talk about the UJM, the "Universal Japanese Motorcycle", what a classic example. I might have to follow Frank's lead, I've got a spare Suzuki GS1000 engine, I might have to see if I can slot it into my spare K5 frame! ;D

Pretty sure that pic came from the same eBay seller (fastbike6667) who listed that bike earlier this year. Note the virtually identical backgrounds and date stamps in both the pics when placed side by side:

They are both Z-900 Kawasaki engines from the 1970's.

Hmmmmm,i have a spare fully braced "F" frame that would just love a bigger engine.... ;)
I have seen a pommy Honda/4 with a GSXR 1100 engine in it....

I suppose to keep it "Honda pure", you could install a CB900-1100F engine Mick, it's just a pity they aren't as "bullet proof" as the old Kawasaki/Suzuki engines? ;D

Are you sure? You do know that Kawasaki after the initial success with the Z1 903cc,  produced a Z2, which was 749cc, and looked almost identical to its bigger brother, right?

The Z2 is rare in the extreme, as not many were made.   This bike must not be confused with the later Z750, which was a 738cc.

The K0 is fitted with a Z1 900 engine, and I think someone said that the red bike was on Ebay advertised with a Z1 900 engine as well, although it could be a Z1000 engine, there's no real differences externally. The Z2 was a "Japan only" bike, with basically just a sleeved down/de-stroked Z900 engine, to meet Japanese engine capacity rules of the era. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I'm not sure why you need to reinforce the CB frame to accept the Kaw engine.  The CB frame is much stiffer than the Z1 frame.  Trust me on this, I have both bikes; 1973 Z1 and 1974 CB750.  My 750 is missing the lower back bone frame rails.  It is still much stiffer than the Z1.  Look at the Kaw steering head assembly design.

I always thought the Kawi was sort of a featherbed design.. and not that bad a frame.

Putting the Kawi in the Honda is upping the horespower by a fair bit..

I have ridden both bikes hard and the "Z" was terrible, it had the most unnerving wobble accelerating in corners and i could regularly beat my mate on my Honda because of it, the Kawasaki "walked" round corners...Actually my Honda had roughly the same HP...Its biggest limitation was ground clearance.

I have seen that bike Dave, it was at the Honda anniversary day at Gatton last year. It is a 750/4 with Yamaha tank seat and side covers, i liked it , it looked standard in a funny sort of way...
