750f2 clutch problem need help
« on: July 24, 2010, 12:32:46 AM »
just rebuilt my f2 from frame up and am having issues with the clutch.
I stripped clutch apart and cleaned all parts and checked tolerences, all seemed ok
bike rolls fine in neutral, when you pull the clutch in and put it in first the bike stalls.
I readjusted the clutch and found that it seems to be working, but not fully, you can push the bike with the clutch in but it is quite difficult, there is a fair bit of resistance on the back wheel, does not seem to matter how i adjust the clutch.
Any ideas what could be wrong?  Should the bike be hard to push?
any ideas much appreciated

The only part I can answer is "should the bike be hard to push"
The answer is No.  I can push my F3 with the bike in first and clutch pulled in and it's almost ( no quite) as easy as being in Nuetral.  Very small difference.
I believe mine is normal.

If the clutch cable is adjusted top and bottom per specs, is there any poss. that the 4 clutch plate bolts are not 'home' and torqued to 7 lft.lbs....?... I've read posts where guys weren't sure how much to tighten them against the springs...... they do need to be 'home'... maybe not your prob. at all, but just asking......
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Im pretty sure i have the 4 clutch bolts done up all the way, I just took it 4 a couple of laps around the block and it changes gear ok, and does not stall any more when i engage a gear at stationary position.
Its a fresh motor so i gotta change the oil when it hits 100 k or so, so i might wait till then and pull the clutch apart and check it out?, have a few other issues to check out first, the front brakes are very spongy, i think there may still be air in them?
