Goin' a Little Triple Crazy
« on: January 07, 2011, 06:41:56 PM »
Well after filling up the shop with a bunch of early Honda 750's (18 so far) I thought I would move in a little direction for awhile this winter.I have been hankering to have another 2-stroke to run around on a little this summer, grew up with them in the 70's. Have run across some pretty good deals since Christmas. So far I have bought a 1974 Gt380 for $250.00 with 16,000 mi that is now running.Recently bought this nice 1975 GT550 with Bassani pipes and original exhaust from original owner,10,200 miles for $150.00,his price, that I am now prepping for its first start.Picked up the GT750 Water Buffalo for $200.00 the same day from a different original owner with 12,500 miles but very dirty and rough condition, will try to get it running or may be good for parts if a better one comes along.A guy a mile away or so also had this 1978 Yamaha xs750e for sale re sonably so I said what the hell its got 3 pipes :D,got it running smooth now just needs a real seat, finish brakes etc.So if you guys see a huge blue smoke cloud over Kalamazoo this spring you will know that Eric's got all the 2-strokers fired up. Take care all.

That's almost as good as hittin' the Lotto!
I've always liked the Suzi GT's, would love to have a 550.

Story is that Honda increased the displacement on the CB500 [to 550] to keep up with the GT550.

G'Day Eric, well you can keep that 'orrible Yamaha mate, but I love those Suzy's, wanna sell me that GT750? I've wanted a "K" forever! No hack-sawing required mate, I'll take the whole thing! ;) ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Very cool Eric. We're living up in Muskegon now, but we will have to get ogether this summer and ride. I'm so jealous of your collection and shop. Keep up the good work.

Ha ha, yeah, those Yamaha triples are only good for boat anchors in my (just slightly biased) opinion Eric, but those Suzy's are sweet mate, you've done extremely well. I'm serious, if you decide to flip that 750 I'd love it. Speaking of love, those Bassani chambers on that 550 are probably the nicest I've ever seen, over here all you could get "back in the day" were black "Bromlech" 3 into 1 pipes which were nice, but not even close to Bassani's, they were (and still are) mechanical porn! And no Rusty, I don't want that seat, it's bigger than my lounge suite! ;D

Terry that GT750 would be a poor candidate for you as its condition at this point would probably not warrant your cost for shipping.Hopefully it will be a runner. Talked to a guy Saturday that I have known for a long time but never have seen his stash yet in person. Says he has 3 - 1972 first year GT750's and lots of bits along with a first year 550, a Wankel Rotory Suzi and a K0 he has teased me with in the past.Tough nut to crack but I am going to work on him hard.He is sitting on over 40 different machines  ::)  By the way I need your address again so I can get that LOVELY RARE Yammie seat down over to you-------  ;D

Hey Andy. So you are living up there full time now? You will have to change your name from Zoomob to Muskymob or something.Guess I won't waste my time looking for bikes up there, with your good eye you will get them all  ;)    Regards Eric

That 550 is beautiful and those pipes are to die for. Terry is right, saw plenty of old Suzuki smokers with the 3 into 1 pipes on em.... ;)
Always wanted an old 550 Suzy....

Ha ha, well I'll take that seat Eric, but only if it's bolted to a nice GT750! I've had a "J" and an "M" before, and they were both great bikes, but the "K" was always my favorite, so if you see one mate, let me know? It doesn't have to be "mint", I'm quite happy to buy a junker and restore it, for me, that's half the fun! ;D

Don't know much about these but there is two GT380's.  Interesting look with the three cylinder/4 mufflers.
