Identify this ignition?
« on: August 28, 2010, 08:25:54 AM »
This aftermarket ignition was on my K8 when I bought it. The PO says it was on there when he bought it so he doesn't know who made it. Anyone got an idea what company made this?

I am not up on most E ignitions.. But.. It looks a lot like a certain Prestolite product that was used on other bikes. I think the big part used to be black.
As far as I know Prestolite did make 4cyl stuff.

Thanx 754. It's pretty oxidated, but it works great. I just wondered what I have there. :-\

Tis a PRESTOLITE for sure,

Just did a search online and found a copy of a catalog page with it on it..74.50, it cost! I recognize the page as being out of a JAMMER Handbook..

The big lump was black.. looks like the one they used when they supplied HD.. back around 77ish... I can remeber selling lots of points replacement kits, for those who did not want to be stranded on the road. Keep in mind when I started riding, there was only 2 or 3 HD dealers in the whole province of BC, by 77 there were a few more..
