Re-installing front wheel to forks

Front tire went flat, so I recently took off the front wheel to get the tire fixed.  Now it's time to put the wheel back on.  My question is this....Are the 'caps' (for lack of a better term) on the bottom of each fork the only thing holding the axle to the fork?

One side of the axle has a hole bored through it.  Almost looks like a dowel pin would fit in the hole, then up to the fork to position the fork on that part of the axle.

Keep it simple: re-assemble as you dis-assembled. But on my 500k2 that's all there is, just the caps with four nuts (and lock washers/loctite).
