How do I figure out what size pod filters to use?

I have a 1983 CB550SC. How do I figure out what pods to use? I could measure if I knew where to measure from and to. Is it the internal or external diameter of the air intake manifold?

external of the carbs inlet and consider distance to frame rails etc
