Is this 6/72 CB350/4 worth $2000?
« on: July 27, 2010, 10:18:47 AM »
I know, I know, but I'm interested in it although I've had a ton of cash calls lately.
Thanks,
Cliff.

Are those stock pipes?! :o

If they are, and I were in the market for a 350F, and had $2000 burning a hole in my pocket, then it would be worth it to me.  That's all hypothetical, though, because I'm not in the market for one and I don't have an extra $2K, so no, it's not worth it to me.

I have a question:

Why does it matter to you if it's worth that much to anybody else?

If I had the money I would seriously consider it. Those pipes look in great shape and are not easy to find or cheap to replace. The side covers are there and paint looks nice. I miss my 350f and would love to own one again.

I sold mine for 1700$ cdn in Toronto, without the original exhaust or paint. It also still needed some minor work like new tires and sprockets. I sold this about 3 years ago.

If it looks great in person and runs good and there is zero rust on the muffler joints/seams, then 2K would be a pretty good price.

Looks darn good in the photos, but photos can be decieving. It looks like a $2k SOHC4 to me. I wanna know what model of Alfa Romeo is in the background of one of the pics.

I bought mine for 1200 and it needed a top-end rebuild, has a dent in the tank, needed new tires, etc, etc, etc.

That bike would have been mine for 2K and would not have thought twice!

One way to think about it, if what you want is a near perfect-looking bike, is how much it would cost to buy one in worse condition without stock pipes and fix it up to look like this one.  Think seat, side covers, paint, emblems, pipes, etc.  The purchase price of the bike plus all the other parts would most likely add up to significantly more than $2000.

But then where's all the fun in buying a bike that doesn't need any work and only needs to be ridden? ::) ;D

Sometimes the word "fun" is one letter short to describe my current build but you're right Gordon. it does appear to be complete so no searching for very elusive parts.  ;D maybe just ride it for a change.
Cliff.

It would be kind of nice, wouldn't it?  I keep thinking about and wanting another, more modern bike that I can just get on and ride and doesn't need as much constant maintenance, but I'm a glutton for punishment and just keep buying these sad cases that need complete rebuilds. ;D

First...yes I think in that shape 2K is fair.

Cliff you're obviously within the "vintage circle" and appreciate what it took to keep the 350 in that condition. In this economy I wonder if he would even get asking price if it weren't for the people who have that appreciation?

The reason I ask I have a cherry 400F I decided needed to go and a couple years ago would probably have brought $3000. There is a young gal that is interested but won't pay 2000. However vintage or collectability aren't words in her vocabulary. After all these years babying the bike I hate how this feels.
