will I live to see 80?
« on: July 31, 2010, 05:38:57 PM »
I recently picked a new primary care doctor.

After two visits and exhaustive Lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age.

(I just turned 60.) A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?'

He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer or wine?'

'Oh no,' I replied. 'I'm not doing drugs, either!'

Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?

'I said, 'Not much. My former doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!'

'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, flying model aeroplanes or bicycling?'

'No, I don't,' I said.

He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?'

'No,' I said.

He looked at me and said, 'Then, why do you even give a sh1t?

Ha ha, well done Bobby, I was gonna give up smoking and drinking, but you've convinced me otherwise! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yeah, that's true mate, I look at my 83 year old Dad and he get's frailer every day, but he still enjoys life and has plenty to do to keep him going, and I hope that'll be my attitude too, I just hope I can hold my bike up at the lights, ha ha! ;D

I was driving through Vermont heading for the Ferry. In front of me was a dozen trikes. When we boarded the Ferry I realized it was a bunch of 70+ year old riders. I struck up a conversation and they told me they wanted to ride but the hips could not support  the weight.

I Florida I noticed a lot of old geezers (I will be a geezer in about 5 years, and an old geezer in 8-10) on 500cc scooters. I asked a dealer about them, and he said they were mostly riders, but throwing a leg over the saddle was a problem for them. So, I guess we can keep riding as long as we can remember where the brake lever is.  I was out today, I think it is on the right. Tomorrow when I go out again I will make sure. Or was that the left, hmmmmmmm. All these freakin details. I quess I could grab them both and that way be sure. I will work it out tomorrow. Carry on.

Ha! Reminds me of my first test ride on my basket-case '53 BSA, on a dead-end road: push down on the right hand brake pedal, nothing! Press harder, still nothing! Dang, I KNOW I adjusted the rear brake!!!! Oh yeah, it's not a Honda: other side, dummy. This messed me up every time I switched from the Jap bikes to the Brits and back again. :D
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!
