Alas, I must wait to hear the tales of battle with the beast. Godspeed, and may you all be victorious!

Still ON....will leave Friday Morn around 7:30am. First night in Alcoa, TN. Then down to the dragon and to Deals Gap Resort. Hope to meet up with everyone there. I would figure about 10am for the meet-up at the resort. Plan to hit all the twisties in the area...about 200 miles of them around....and if everyone is in the mood, maybe go over to the BRP and do some of that. That evening, I'm staying at the two wheel inn in Robbinsville,NC . The next morning, hit the dragon again and then start the long ride back home. If you have an FRS unit, we will be on Channel 15 with the code of 11.

The Kickstand Lodge is an excellent place to stay as well. They have cabins and tent camping, dinner is served family-style for a suggested donation of $5-10. They're 20 minutes from just about all of the best roads in the area. Mo is the owner, she's great.

Maybe the next time around...already made the reservations for the two wheel inn.  I have mounted a video camera on the bike, so there will be videos when I get back. Plus plenty of photos from the 8 mp cell phone camera. Plan to tape all the twisties. I can get most if not all of the trip on sat. and the final run before we head home.

I kind of doubt you'll have time to ride any of the BRP.  After all that excitement, it'll kind of be a bore, anyway.   Try the Cherohala (sp?) thing, instead.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Going from deals gap via 28 to franklin NC, then 64,19,129 to robbinsville NC, then143-165 to tellico plains TN, then 165,360 to vonore TN, then 129 back to the gap. That's about 210 miles and about 5 hours of riding at least. so not sure if brp is an option, but won't rule it out.

Woo, weather looks dodgy..... I hope it doesn't turn into a rained-in piss-up by a few SOHC owners at the head of the Dragon... wait now , bliss feeling either way  ;)

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Bringing rain gear but hoping for the 50-60% of the non wet stuff. looking to meet up with everyone at Deals Gap resort at 10 am Sat. morn. unless we have already hooked up with some earlier.  Plan to do the 211 mile circle around the area...South on 28 to Franklin, then up to robibinsville, then over to Tellico Plains, then up to Vonore and then back to the Gap. If you have a Family Radio Service unit that goes up to channel 15, we will be on. Tone code of 11.  So, looking forward to slaying the dragon and all the rest of it's family. You have any idea of when you plan to get there?

I rained all day in Nashville yesterday, it is raining today, and there is a better chance of rain tomorrow. Of course that is Middle Tennessee so East TN may be a touch dryer if you are lucky. I left Tuesday morning and am in Kansas City now otherwise I would have come over and meet up with you guys. Have a safe trip.

Well, Friday was very nice and sunny and warm. Sat. morn was cloudy and on the way to the north end of the Dragon, got caught in a pretty good downpour. Continued to rain all the way to the dragon and all the way through it. Once we got to the gap, it started to let up. Rode down to Robbinsville and unloaded the bikes at the hotel room. Then rode over to Route 28 and took it back up to gap. Went back down it to a diner and had dinner. Back to the hotel and sat around talking with the other folks in the adjacent rooms. Next morning, Sunday started out as a cloudy day, but as the sun came out, started to burn off the fog and the low lying clouds. By the time we got to the gap, started to look very nice. Got to run the Dragon on DRY pavement instead of wet. Here are some photos and a video or two.

Ignore the date and time in the video...forgot to reset it prior to the run.

Jerry,

Sure did ! Although, it would have been nicer if Sat. hadn't rained on our parade. Would have allowed us to hit all the roads that I had planned on doing. But, I am sure We will make it down there again and do some more. There are more roads with twisties and swoopers than you can imagine.

Got your envelope. Thanks for thinking of me with those. I really do appreciate it. Probably during the winter, I will also have to replace the left front fork gator....probably just do both. Then, I have got to get the tank clear coated over the signatures, Re-chrome the rear fender and fix the spot on the grab rail and buff out the scratches on the trans cover and finally it will be done.

Glad I could help. I still have your wish list here on my desk. I'll be tipping that shot glass and mug once again in 3 weeks. Send your chrome stuff to Brown's after you do the grab rail! Expensive but you should see my valve cover!! Their work will probably conceal any minor repairs. On second thought, if you send those to Brown's you'll have to send everything else there once you see what they can do!

Sir Spanner, Now that thou has been anointed with knighthood, Thine conquests have been documented and thou shall receive a shiny disc scroll of them. Since the files are so large, it will be the easiest way. Have you chosen thy favorite portraits off of the three conquest photo scrolls? I have about 40 in my album. When you get a chance, send me a PM with your mailing address.
