Some results, but not what I was hoping for...
I hit my tank with another shot of 'The Works' last night. Yes, again, the inside of the tank was free of surface rust as was the first time.
Then after a quick water rinse, another shot of baking soda and water to neutralize the acid and stop the flash rust. Seemed very good for a period of time.
Instead of drying the water out with Acetone or MEK, this time, I attempted to chase the water out with diesel. I figured a few rinses with a petroleum based liquid might keep the rust away.
After doing so, the tank was better than the night before with only minimal flash rust (but still some was present). But, after letting the tank sit overnight (with some fuel still inside), more rust has developed. No flakes or sediment, but indeed, surface rust.
Any suggestions as to how to keep the flash rust from appearing? Would 'dry gas' work after the baking soda/water rinse? I am ready to attempt to use the tank as is.
Thanks, Scott
