Computer problem may be forum related.
« on: August 03, 2010, 06:10:00 AM »
Hello:
On my desktop everything runs fine. On my laptop, the forum date is stuck on July 30th, then mysteriously toggles up to August 1st. But the "unread posts" and the "new replies to your posts" doesn't refresh, stuck in the past. Other parts too, but that gives you the basic problem. Befoire I call in the paid professionals, thought I'd ask.

I've restarted once, no change.

Other sites on my laptop may be stuck in the past also, but i can't find any consistent problem. I think its just the SOHC forum.

Try clearing the cache and deleting all cookies.  Sounds to me more like a localized computer issue rather than a forum problem.

Doh! I coulda had a V8!

That seems to have done it. Perked the computer up in general it seems. Laptop doesn't get the attention that the desktop does.

Thanks!

ya, if you have ALL your cookies and cache continually filling up, it'll REALLY slow down a machine!  you can change settings so it will only keep a certain amount of cookies and clear the cache every set period.  on my work computer i have it do that everytime i close firefox, so that my history and cookies will be erased.  it's a bit annoying, but it helps cover my ass just in case they casually look...
