1978 CB750F exhaust questions
« on: August 02, 2010, 02:01:27 PM »
I just bought a 1978 CB750f that I am going to make into a cafe racer bike. It has a 4 to 1 exhaust on it and the 4 to 1 part is in excellent condition, but the bigger end part of the exhaust (the part that bolts to the bike with the baffling stuff in it) has a giant hole in it where it looks like it was hit and then rusted through, so basically it is worthless. I need a new exhaust for the bike, and was thinking about getting a new street bike slip on style exhaust, like you would put on an R6 or similar street bike. Can that even be done? I know that I may have to get some sort of bushing to make fit nice and snug and I would have to fabricate up some sort of mounting bracket for it too, but I was wondering if/how the bike would run with that style exhaust on it. Anyone have any thoughts or help for me?

I believe Mac makes a slip on replacement muffler for your bike for around $170.00.  They seem to be a common choice for your situation.  I don't know what this street bike style R6 thing you mention is.

Cycle Recycle II in Indianapolis.  Look on their website under exhaust.  Good prices, ship quickly.
