Tank cleaning for moderately fouled tank
« on: August 03, 2010, 09:28:40 PM »
I've read up on the different acid washes with drywall nail cleans, but my tank doesn't have egreegious flaking rust, just some sediment. I want to clean it in a less-obtrusive way (but maybe that's the wrong tack). What say the council on a tank that has speckle residue.

I'm pretty sure I need to address the petcock, but would vinegar in the tank be the better answere than phosporic or hydrochloric acid?

Look in the Tricks & Tips section.  Lots of alternative DIY methods for tank cleaning in there like molasses and toilet bowl cleaner.
