Current '66 Mustang Coupe Work
« on: August 06, 2010, 07:23:16 AM »
So guys, my good friends fiancee asked me to drive them off in their wedding sept. 10, so i decided to use that as an excuse to do some MUCH needed work on the old girl.  here's what i have planned:

new clutch and all that goes with it
rebuild shifter and upgrade bushings
Open Tracker clutch rod linkage
new D&L 3-4 shift collar, gear dogs, HD shift forks and new seals
new transmission bushing
oil pan gasket
new valve covers w/ wing bolts
full tune up (cap, rotor, wires, plugs, air filter, oil change)
Street or Track HiPo fan shroud
paint engine bay (w/ motor still in there!) there was an article in mustang & fords on doing this in a torino!
remove factory export brace
Arvinode mufflers and resonators and enlarge louvers on trumpet tips
port match, blast and repaint manifolds w/ new exhaust donuts and gaskets
Bilstein shocks w/ chrome shock caps
1" front sway bar
5 leaf rear springs
UCA drop and roller spring perches
CJ Pony parts full front end rebuild kit (new upper & lower CA, tie rods, sleeves, etc.)
Open Tracker roller idler arm
Humphugger console
remove a/c
new side seat moldings and sill plates
new seat belts, dash speaker and package tray

i have a 289, edelbrock 600 4v, edelbrock performer 289 intake, electronic ignition, dual exhaust w/ h-pipe, front disc brakes, t-10 4 speed.

here's a link to the current progress of the work.  i'll add more pictures as i get them...  http://picasaweb.google.com/106056913584549886552/MustangWork0710?feat=directlink

let me know what you guys think!!  i think she's going to handle on rails compared to the old suspension.  gas adjust shocks up front, worn out front steering and suspension components, VERY old and sagging rear leaf springs and air shocks...  all in all i think this is going to make her a LOT more fun to drive!   ;D
