« on: August 06, 2010, 01:07:03 AM »
the old aussie movie"stone" (1974)is on abc2 this saturday night at 10:10pm brisbane time,a bit of a daggy film but youll see some old jappers and pommie stuff in it,,has anyone here outside australia seen this film?i wonder if its been shown outside australia much,?,its about a biker gang thats getting murdered one by one and an undercover cop joins them to solve the case.WARNING frequent aussie slang use.they actually hired "angels"ive read for the opening big ride to a funeral scene and a few others.

I've got this on dvd and watch it every now and then - it really is a pretty crappy film, and if it wasn't for the bikes, a bit of nudity, the bikes, a bit of humping, the bikes, a few titties, the bikes..........hang on, I'll be back in a minute!  :D

Back when it was released it quickly became a cult film - well, at least among my circles - and we went (on our CBs and Zs) to the flicks nearly every sat night to see it, making appropriate comments at inappropriate moments (or vice versa) and getting told off by the usherettes. Great days. ;D
Man, I was just a pup at 19. sigh.

I knew a couple of people in it, inc the stunt guys, and the guy riding the outfit "hearse". The start sequence and the street race are my 2 favourite bits.

Dave - do you remember the reinactment they had of the funeral procession many years later - there was a big crash and at least 1 one was killed - caused quite a stir at the time.

yeah pete ,if thats the crash angry anderson was in?ive got a stone 25th aniversary poster i saved,if you look close the rego numbers on some of the bikes are consecutive so no doubt they were regoed for the movie.when i regoed mine the girl handed me the plate 131 AM,and i said it looks like thirteen I am so she flicked though the stack and got one without 13 to it,im not superstitious i just didnt want 13 on my bike.i used to live at lockleys by the way and went to lockleys demonstration school then underdale high before we moved to melbourne.
