Carb needle mixing tube erosion
« on: August 08, 2010, 12:22:50 PM »
Question for them in the know:
When I rebuilt my carbs I noticed that the brass tube that the needle dips into was kind of eroded. Probably ten thousandths or so - looked like termites had gone around nibbling off brass. (totally high velocity fluid scouring)

Question is - could this be leading my #4 cylinder to run differently/worse than the others? Obviously the holes in the tube have been eroded also, but probably not much...

I just thought it was strange that I would only have this problem on one carb. The other three are normal. I did use the soda blasting technique to clean these, but then all three would be eroded?

Thanks ahead of time for any replies!
