My 1971 CB750K1 Project is done... with pix

1971 CB750K1 Valley Green Metallic

Purchased from Original owner: 71 year old man: November 14, 2008

Dissasembly started September 2009
Frame off restore: completed August 2010:

Complete tare down
Sandblasted frame, battery box, motor mounts triple tree, swingarm, etc, (all black parts), prime and repaint satin Black
Stripped all paint off of motor case and repainted silver
All “shiny”aluminum on motor was stripped of all clear coat and polished
All Philips head screws on motor were replaced with NOS screws
All bolts,screws, nuts, washers, etc. hit with high speed wire wheel and polished before installed anywhere on the bike

Work Completed:

NOS HM300 Exhaust complete, every nut, washer, bolt, gasket, seal, flowers etc… complete pkg as sold by David Silvers Spares
Front wheel bearings with ZZ type
Rear wheel bearings  with ZZ type
Swing arm rebuilt and re-bushed, by Mark Paris aka HONDAMAN
All balls Tapered Steering bearings
Front spokes replaced wheel trued
Rear spokes replaced wheel trued
Inner tubes front and rear
Avon Road Rider tires front and rear 3.25X19 and 4X18
Clutch cable
Throttle cables
Speedo cable
Tach cable
NOS Speedometer
NOS Chrome dish on speedo
New Chrome dish on tach
Tach and speedo disassembled to re-glue jewels in place
NOS Front Fender
Rebuilt brake caliper
New sealed battery
All new bulbs, in gauges, lights and blinkers
All electrical connectors cleaned and re-crimped and replced with original type if needed
Front and rear sprockets replaced 48T rear 18T front, (I may switch the front to 17T)
New chain
NOS Brake switch spring
Brake rotor, black paint stripped and repainted
Front and rear hubs clear coat stripped and polished
Brake hub polished
NOS handle bar grips
Clutch and front brake levers
Front and rear blinkers and stems
Stripped and repainted gas tank, side covers, fork ears and headlight bucket original color, Valley Green Metallic
NOS fuel cap
NOS gas tank lower trim
NOS side cover emblems
Valve cover gasket
Trans cover gasket
Clutch cover gasket
NOS Left and Right mirrors
NOS kick stand spring
NOS carb manifolds
OEM Air Filter
New seat hinge pins and cotter pins
New Fork seals
New Fork boots
Forks polished
Carbs rebuilt and tweaked by Hondaman !!
New fuel lines, vent tubes and overflow tubes
Petcock disassembled , cleaned, reassembled and polished
Valves adjusted
NOS OEM Points
New spark plugs
Spark plug wires cut and new shiny ends installed.
Condensors
Timing Set
Carbs syncd
15-50 Valvoline Synthetic Oil changed. (1st time after initail 7 miles on bike)
Compression 160-160-160-157
Put the 1st - 75 mile ride on her yesterday.. What a blast!

Kinda redundant, but wow, that is absolutely beautiful.   Never actually seen a green one in person, but I think my next project (if I can ever find one!) will be green.

HONDASEVEN: The bark of the HM300's is worth the price of admission. I find myself smiling at the girgle and pop of every shift... ;D

CBCAFE: Never drove the bike before the restore... Put the Synthetic 15W-50 per Hondaman's suggestion. Shifting is crisp.. Neutral is a VERY small shift up from 1st.. Sometimes appears to be missing... it's not... ::) That takes some getting use too.. I am not real good at it yet..

Read Replica: my wife picked the plate for me... Birthday present...  ( I'll be 50 in 19 days), in fact, she bought me the HM300 set-up and new AVON Road Riders too!
