One of my favorites is lapping in old needle and seats with toothpaste.  Works wonders stopping leaky overflowing carbs.

Don't kick-start your bike to impress onlookers unless you're positive you can start it by the third kick. 
and make sure your laces ( if you have them ) are not hangin out in the wind like a rip cord waiting to get caught on the shifter when you pull up to the busiest red light in town and you find......out ...in ....slow ... motion... that.... you ...only .... have .... one foot available :o to put down and you tip like a COW. gee how do i know this. Velcro good. laces BAD.

Or too short bell bottoms that get hooked over the kick starter, right when you need to put your rt foot down.   :D

Flitz polish works wonders on brass.

Simple green mixed 50/50 with water in a new $2 gallon paint can is your friend.

Mabey I really SHOULD have used the blue thread locker on the first re-build....

Oh yeah, thread locker is a GOOD thing MOST of the time.
And YES there is a reason to put it on the bolt, and NOT in the hole.
Just can't remember it right now though......

I believe its supposed to  be loctite in the hole not the bolt.  At least that is what the loctite factory rep told me when I was an engineer for CAT. 8)

ACTUALLY checking every nut and bolt for tightness EVERY riding season.

I'm still a bit surprised at how many come loose, or fall out in a riding season..

Thanks for the Loctite note. Interesting about the application methods and also about the preparation (clean and dry) and shake the bottle!

The stock airbox performs great on the street. Aftermarket pods look great in the garage. Interchange the two.... and youll miss half the riding season.

Correction: if you DO plan on interchanging the two, do your homework FIRST or you'll miss half the riding season. Get to know jetting and carb tuning like the back of your hand. Figure out what has worked for other people, adjust for altitude and climate and go from there, it really isn't as hard as everyone says.
