My eyeballs ain't what they used to be - is that a GB500 hiding behind the CM?
<edit>Nope, itsa 78 780K cafe.</edit> Nice work!

I've got one exactly like the stocker at the top of your photo page.  Purchased new at Pug Vickers in Jackson TN when I was 19 or 20.     It was the last one they had on the showroom floor after the DOHCs hit the market.

Currently on its way back to stock trim.  Finding a complete set of pipes off eBay proved hopeless - got a set of new (reproduction?) ones out of Europe for a little less than I bought the bike for new.

& since you're flush with cash how 'bout a nice '75 RD350 or a '77 RD400?   Or both?

Did Pug Vickers move to Jackson or did they have another store? I bought my avatar bike new at Pug Vickers in Huntingdon, TN in 3/75? World's largest honda dealer was the claim at the time.

Hey Derek,

Good profit on the bike. I think you need to sink it into your bikes now!
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Hey Derek,

They must have moved to Jackson at some point between our purchases.

Their claim was the biggest Honda dealer in the southeast US when I purchased the 750.  I went digging for the original bill of sale for their old address (yes I tend to keep stuff forever) but I suspect it was handed over with the application for title.   I still have my copy of the title application (told ya I keep stuff forever).    The date on it was 6/27/79, so I was twenty and the bike had been sitting on the showroom floor for a long time.   They ran an ad in one of the two local papers in Nashville (The Nashville Banner is long deceased - I'm  a wealth of unimportant info, eh?).   They had a dozen CB750Fs and a dozen CB750Ks left over from '78 and wanted to move them out of their showroom.   I think I paid about $1800 for the bike out the door.   The Fs IIRC were marked at about $100 more than the Ks.   I wanted an F but it took me 12 Fs, and 11 Ks to badger my pop into cosigning on the note.

A few years ago (5ish)  I was looking to get some replacement hardware for some portable kennel panels I bought (WTF is this idiot babbling on about?).  Over the course of several phone calls I finally ended up with some nice young lady in Jackson TN.  I inquired about Pug Vickers shop.  It was no more.  Seems he'd had a little IRS difficulties and perhaps some other legal woes that shut him down for good.

Who cares.  What's that bike behind it- and more importantly, where did that seat come from?

(I have to hate you a little for making money on a sale.  Seems like I lose money every time)

I was wondering about the bike too, until I checked the links at the bottom of the post.   http://www.world-playground.com/Bike/bike1.html

I'd like to know about that seat myself.

It was one of Carpys 1st cafe double up seats.
I bought a seat pan off ebay and had the guy ship it to Carpy and he did it.

Actually I did go to page 2, but uhh err, I'm senial and forgot the details you gave below...

I bought a seat pan off ebay and had the guy ship it to Carpy and he did it.

There's someone on eBay selling cafe seats for bikes (CB750s of various vintages among others) out of Taiwan IIRC.   I think I may have purchased a set of reproduction rims off them for a Yamaha R5 and they were decent.   There's a version that looked similar to yours, perhaps not as much length fore to aft on the hump.

That's the bike I rode to Sturgis last year...where you guys been ;D

Working!  Grrrrrrrr!    Same for east coast Sturgis out here - WORKING!*
