Yeah, I use them...to add to my collection of $1 coins. ::) ;D ;D I don't think I've ever spent one, or a 50¢ coin, or a $2 bill. I don't think they'll ever replace the $1 bill because they're too heavy. Imagine 10 or 12 heavy coins bouncing around in your pocket, or in your case Andy...your purse. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Although with that much weight the purse could be a formidable weapon.

In Andys case it's a sporan not a purse ;D ;D ;D ;D If you think of it, it makes economical sence in respect of the cost of keep replacing the $1 bill. If the $2 bill was used more, there's every chance that when you spent a $1 and tendered a $5 note you would get 2 $2 bills and not 4 $1 coins.
I wonder how many Americans know that the $2 bill exsists, I've got one in my wallet at the moment. :D

We have $1 coins (Loonies) and 2$ coins (Twoonies) up here north of the border and have for many years...basically the strippers are happy as they got a substantial raise!! Have you ever tried to stick a coin in a G-String?

I get a roll of dollar coins about once a month from the bank.
I like them.  I love the reaction I get when I spend them.
They're also great for handing to panhandlers.  They think it's a quarter. :D

I really wish we had  $2 and $5 coins in the US.

I liked the 2 pound coins I used when I was in Gr. Britain.

Yeah, I'd much rather put a coin in the slot.  :)

I mainly use coins for vending machines and they only take dimes, nickels and quarters or bills. The cost of reworking or replacing those machines is probably slowing down adoption of $1 coins.
Cash drawers aren't set up for two dollar bills plus they don't take them at Taco Bell.  ;D

Quite right.

There are a lot of vending machines that now use the Dollar coin as change as it cuts down on the other coins needed to make change.

Hey Blasbo,
I liked the $2 story and can believe it happened. Mainly because when the $1 coin first came out I rushed to the bank and purchased 3 rolls to use as tips.
Many, many times a waitress would stop me on the way out and question the validity of the coins.  ???

I use them frequently, get them as change from the machines. Seems a better value, a 15 cent piece of metal rather than a 5 cent piece of paper... and it LOOKS like gold...sortof...if you squint real hard... ;D

Really.....  Small bills cost more to make than they are worth now don't they?  Coins last virtually forever.
Canadian here, yes you do end up with a pocket full of change at the end of a day, drop in in a bucket in the garage and buy more parts ;D

We have had the $1and $2 coins for quite a while now with no problems at all and as Derek has hinted, the old money box holds a bit more than it used too so it has its upside as well. NZ has the same thing.
