Here is my FREE 78 750K8 :)
« on: August 11, 2010, 07:31:06 AM »
I know she doesn't look like much, but the price was right.  She had been sitting in someone's AZ backyard for about 5 years.

Brought her home, cleaned her up, pulled the carbs, cleaned thoroughly, and she actually fired right up (after the battery was charged), yup, even with 5 year old gas.

So far, changed the oil, plugs, chain, sprockets and getting her new rubber.

Carbs will be synced shortly at a local SOHC enthusiast shop, and I hop to have her tagged and roadworthy in the next few weeks.

Still have a few more things to replace and look into, but like i said, she was a freebie. :)

Yep, I pretty much hate you!  ;) ;D

I only paid $100 for mine, but it was a total basket case.  :(

Yeah, i know, i totally lucked out with this find.

i have put under $200.00 into her and she is almost road-worthy (still wanna do the bearings and brakes at least).

Hey ClimbingAZ, you are local too, let me know when you wanna go for a ride. :)

Tortilla Flats, B-Line to Payson or even out to Globe are some nice rides. :)

What the #$%*!!?? There are zero finds like this in Cali, seems like everyone wants top dollar for rusted out basket cases. Great find man!

HAHA, luckily, it only rains twice a year in AZ.

By the way, no title came with the bike.  Going the bonded title route.  Going to cost me about $150.00 and wait up to 15 days.  That should give me plenty of time to get her road-worthy.

If anyone needs work down to their SOHC, there are two shops that specialize in this motor, Medusa Cycle in East Mesa, and Tempe Cycles in Tempe.  Both shops deal almost exclusively with the Honda SOHC's.

More progress pics to follow..... :)

Hey Edgimeno - Yes, it would be cool to get together for a ride sometime.  My CB isn't quite roadworthy yet, but my other bike is.  All my current riding buddies ride modern sportbikes.  It would be nice to hookup with a few guys riding vintage stuff!

I might be able to get a 90 day permit as early as this weekend (although it doesn't look like it is going to cool down any).

I will shoot you an email to touch base.

Can't go wrong for that price.  Nice find!  Definitely get some new rubber for that thing though.

New rubber is on, took it for a nice quiet stroll around town, put about 60 miles on her over the weekend.

Still working on getting her properly titled and registered so the real riding can begin....

New pics to come in the new few days.

Valves adjusted, cam chain tension set, points and ignition are set as well.

Just need the carbs tuned and she should be good to go.....maybe a new seat (got a tear in this one).

Not sure when we will be getting together, but i know i will be riding to Babe's in Gilbert on Sunday, around lunch time.  They give you a free half dozen wings if you ride a motorcycle there....plus, the eye candy isn't too bad. :)
