850 kit and cam questions
« on: August 11, 2010, 03:58:06 PM »
please forgive my newness to the engine internal side. I have had many cb750's, built my own frames, fab'd most everything.   i have acb750A that I want to upgrade. I plan on using an 850 kit from cycleX. is there a certain cam I should use? Iam not looking to make an all out hotrod, just a nice warmed up bagger on a budget. any other recomendations?

thanks

Megacycle Cams.  ;)

I have the webcam 63a grind in my 850 engine. Their advertised numbers are like carnival barkers - they'll say anything to get you bite. The engine runs pretty good and I'm happy with the end result, but getting there was a pain in the ass. I can only imagine Megacycle cams are far easier to install.

I used the 850 cycle-X with a 41a Webcam. Good allround combo, and use the cam now again in a freshly build engine for allday driving, but seems the numbers Megacycle provide with their cams are correct.

Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

I had the 41a until I toasted it (oil starvation). I'm much happier with the 63a. Still a great, streetable, bike, but it gives it just that extra umph.

I have build a 63a in the engine for a trackday bike awhile back, good allround performance. The 41a is more of a replacement (drop-in)for the oem cam.But in the future think i'll go with megacycle cams.
