Got my painted stuff back today
« on: March 01, 2006, 07:05:47 PM »
Another task is out of the way......wont be long now. Still have to re-wire it(inside the headlight bucket), find a fitting for my brake line into the caliper, tail light....suggestions???, grips, want to find bigger turn signals for the rear, and clean/paint the exhaust and use header wrap on the front part.

Probally some more but Im too excited about getting the paint work back to remember.

EDIT**** I knew it........Jeez.......I've got to take the seat base to my father in law to have him make a cover for it.  ::)

KC, I'm not worried about the lowering blocks, I've got a lot things to do first anyway. No problem, just keep up the good work on the bike, ok?    Later on, Bill ;)

KC--->
Your bike looks tight ! I dig the green. Def. won't be able to loose it in a sea of black bikes.
Make sure you keep me posted on that brake fitting !!

Thanks guys  8)  I was a little gunshy about the green to start with, but its growing on me. One good thing about it.......people ought to be able to see me coming.  ;D

Another thing I forgot is I have to cut the front fender down and get it mounted.

I didnt find a fitting today Teal.......checked 4 different places. I even tried verifying the caliper fitting was the 10mmx1.25mm inverted flare at the Honda shop and they didnt even know ::) I was hoping I could find something here so I wouldnt have to wait for something in the mail. Im gonna try one more place tomorrow that might have one.......CV Products.....they deal in racing equipment for Nascar and are a sponsor for one of the Busch series cars...so maybe I might get lucky.

I worked on the wiring a little tonite after getting the 76 diagram from Adam. I still have bugs in it. I got down to the last wires to be hooked up.....the head lite wires.....and I couldnt find the 3 prong connector. After turning everything in the building upside down looking for it, I said to heck with it, hooked up the battery and tried the starter. Nothing  >:( Then I remembered that the starter circuit went thru the headlite, so I started looking for the 3 prong again. After about 30 minutes I got frustrated and was gonna close up and go in the house. On the way out guess what I see? One of my stupid cats flipping the 3 prong around on the ground outside  >:(  >:(  >:(

So I hook it up to the remaining wires, plug the headlite in and presto......the starter works using the button for the first time since I got the bike. But now the headlite isnt working :'(  So I trace wires and see that I have the green wire from the 3 prong plugged into a black gang connector.  :-[  ::)  I unplug it and plug it into the green like its supposed to be........now the starter doesnt work and the headlite still doesnt either. I checked the fuses and theyre still good to go. Checked the 3 prong with a multimeter while turning the light switch on and no juice is coming to it.

Im gonna yank all the wires back out of the bucket tomorrow and start over. If I got the green headlite wire in the wrong place, I might have something else in the wrong place too.

             Hey kc,
You're not Irish are you? Thought you might be getting ready for St. Patrick's Day. Ha!Ha!
No really, your bike really is looking good. It is an inspiration to see what it was and what it's
becoming. I hope I can make that much of a difference with mine. Well, better go.
                                                Later on,  Bill  :) ;)

Not yet.......gonna be the last thing I do before the test ride. Im going to clean them up and paint with the flat black 1500* header paint. I figure the test ride will heat them up and cure the paint. Then I plan on wrapping the front section with black header wrap.

Make sure you scuff them pipes up real good before you paint them. I thought I did a good job, as the paint was fine
for about 2 weeks. Just last week I went and started up my bike, and the paint was flaking all over the place...I would like to have them ceramic coated black , but I cant justify the $200 cost for this bike.

I am gonna black header-wrap them, and be done with it.

Mine will be a dark red:
I was thinking of re-doing my black "suede" paintjob for something with alittle more color to it.
Either suede red or green, still can't deciede.

I think a nice, "Suede Green" or "Suede Red" paintjob would look killer.
It's just a sand, and spray away...

Nice looking bike Fixated. Did you cover your seat yourself or have someone do it?  Gonna get my upholsterer father inlaw to cover mine.....just wondering how much foam you used and did you put foam on the upright of the tail section?

Go green Teal.....that will get junkie going  ;D

Still trying to decide if I wanna put any stripes on mine or not.  ???

No, I bought the seat from Glass from the past...and yes there is padding up the back.  I am going a real dark red with the twin ducati stripes in silver down the tank and seat.

I would leave your bike solid green, with black accents on the motor, lower legs, etc....
