If I had all those cupholders & gadgets mounted to my bars, I'd be a little reluctant to remove my hands from them myself. ;)

+1

I am lucky though, becuase in the city of Chicago we luckily have a pretty diverse motorcycle community.

But out in the suburbs visiting my parents, all I ever see are Harleys, or the sport bikes

Well. I am not sure what these and other comments are specifically referring to when it comes to baggers.  I use the term bagger for my bike and it is not a Harley.

I wave or nod at almost every bike.  I believe my bike was the first real sport tourer.  It is fairly quick for a 800lb bike as well with it's V4 1200 that assisted in the VMAX's birth.  The other owners forum I am a member of for my ride wave to most as well.

It hangs corners well.  I love twisty country roads on here.  She loves the Three Sisters down by San Antonio.

Does she like to just cruise as well?  Yes, very much so and comfortable as well.  Momma actually nods off while 2up.

In my avatar is a Yamaha Venture Royal pulling a trailer on the dragon.

I apologize if I have misspoken here if it is I that misunderstood what has been written here.

I don't care what anyone else rides. If they like it, that's all that matters. Besides, there is no such thing as an "all purpose" bike. I wouldn't dream of taking my Seeley for a trail-ride: I would take my CR480 two-stroke. While I have taken my Seeley on a long distance cruise, I think next time I would prefer a "bagger", regardless of make. ;)

Its a stripped down decker or dresser... not a full  touring bike. Usually has a drestically lowered windshield..

Yeah, gobs of them at Bonneville for bike week..(Bub Speed Trials)

They are the current IT Bike...

choppers have again run the course

sportbikes have been around a long time

So the bagger got popular.. some of  comforts & convenience of a full dresser.. but yet a platform to express your individuality..
Ie, high bars, or any style.
 Huge built motors
 Billet goodies if so desired
Big megaphone muffler fit under bags notched for them

Stuff like that..and always a place to put your jacket or a sixpack, without distubing the lines of the bike..

Full-on touring bikes are often called baggers, but baggers are a form of custom bike............................... IMO..

more bikers=more of a voice against stupid anti-motorcycle legislation.

Be careful what you wish for.

At least they are riding.

Most of the Harley bashing I've seen over the years is due to jealousy.  Most can't afford one, so they do what's natural.....talk bad about them...nothing new.

My Harley riding neighbor across the street from me is already on his 3rd bike in 1 1/2 years, no he didn't crash then or broke them, he just kept ungrading. The latest is a beautiful Street Glide, c'mon guys you have to admit they do make a purty-looking bike.  If it wasn't for him being so close to my house, my wife would had continued to protest me having a bike for another 10 years, but  I guess all of the fun natured flaunting he did when ever she was out in the yard when he rode up, was enough to convince her to just give in to my quest. That and she probably was tired of having to wipe of the puddle of drool that I always left in front of our window whenever I heard him coming home.
So far, every biker I've seen on the rode has given me the wave it's those damn little sissy scooter rider who are  the real snobs for some strange reason, so I stopped waving at them!  Let's not hate, we all have a common enemy, morons on their cell phones, young drivers and old ones.

I apologize if I have misspoken here if it is I that misunderstood what has been written here.

No need to apologize, TT.  The OP was whining specifically about bikes that don't look like cafe or racer style and his disdain for the people who own/ride them.

I'm getting rather sick of the bigotry expressed by the narrow minded "cafe racer style crowd" trying to justify their own tastes.  What's funny/disgusting, is if they were all in their chosen style, then they would complain about that, too.

It does look like the Government, schools, and media are doing their job well keeping people bickering about unimportant nonsense instead of things important to their lives.

my point was that thats all I see.Its not that I dislike them, its that thats all you see.I think Harley makes very pretty bikes, and they hold their value.I just get bored of them.If I can have 10 bikes,I am sure a harley would be on the list. There is tons of bikes out there that can do it all pretty well. But if you are reallyt hardcore about it then yes,you would need a motocrosser,a sportbike,a bagger,a cruiser, and a scooter. But some of us dont have that luxury. That is why I love my CB,comfortable enough to tour on(Wa to laguna seca and back last year)small enough to just putz around town(compared to todays ridiculous size bikes,Triumph's 2300cc behemoth)and a good commuter(great gas mileage). At the moment all I can have is the one bike so I will upgrade it as much as my checkbook will allow.Oh,and yes its probably a lil penis envy as well.I am jealous of those with a whole fleet.

It seems many people tend to focus on and magnify differences between people, rather than appreciate the things they may have in common.  For example, sneering at a style (or brand) of motorcycle someone is riding instead of recognizing they share the same enthusiasm for motorcycling and it's all good.  Not necessarily talking about the OP here.
