Dont try Spanking these Hogs with your SOHC..!!
« on: August 27, 2010, 11:13:00 PM »
Well I am pretty Bummed, I will miss the Bub Speed Trials  at Bonneville next week.
So I did the right thing today, and wished a local builder, racer the best with the 2 bikes they are taking there..

And he said, I dyno'd the 2 bikes .. both Harley based V-Twins.

He built both motors, and has his own dyno.
His bike is 100 inches, made 165 hp and 142 ft lbs torque... :o  It runs  nitrous.

The other bike for his buddy is bigger, and supercharged! 124 cu inches.. made 210 hp.. but did not get the torque readings.. he figures at least 150 ft lbs..

Man would you get a surprise if you ran against either of them..

Another bike from town, a ZX10 with nitrous, made about 160 ish hp last year and ran 192 , I think.
Anyway, I wish them the best, too bad I will miss being there... >:(.

The Harley v twins can be built to throw out some awesome HP, but stock they are lacking in the HP dept. My 97 80ci wide glide evo put out stock somewhere in the 50's. But of course you can't leave a HD stock so I threw in a different cam, pipes, carb kit. I have not put it on the dyno, don't see any reason to, but a harley tech says with those ad on's its putting out  around 75hp. A far cry off from the Harleys your talking about, but plenty fast for this 53 year old.

A crapton of work and money to make 100hp per litre! Ver imprssv!

Kidding. I know it takes a lot of work and expertise to reach these levels with these motors.

Best of luck to him. 160 horse is a hell of a lot, and I'm sure he'll tear #$%* up. And yeah, no sohc4 is gonna take them in any kind of straight line.

Funny, there's a guy on a pretty nondescript HD that rides by one of the shops. Ape hangers, but no chrome to speak of, just a big ol' non-descript HD. Pipes are not loud. But when he gets on it, man, that things goes like a bat out of hell, wheelies easily. Fastest HD I've seen around here, prolly, and part of it is engine tuned for power, not for noise.

Wouldn't mind riding with that guy.
No.

My 03 Fat Boy HAD 58hp stock. Did a little low level work to it. 88ci to 95ci. K & N with 2 into 1 exhaust. Mid-level cams. Set up on the dyno. 84hp and 94 ft lb torque. If it comes apart again it will go back together better. Bigger jugs, bigger injectors and, of course, some serious head work. Target would be at least 110hp. These numbers are at 7000 ft elevation. Sea level it runs like it has a burr up it's ass!
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Frank, I won't be at BUB and will miss it!  Going to Davenport Iowa for the best vintage flat-track races in the world.  8-Valve Triumphs against 750KRs in the feature.........A few tank shifters and board racers also show up.

Yes, the big HDs have very good power with a lot of $$$ spent but our old 750s will still run with or past the factory HDs of today.
