You have got to ask for cash only.
Tell them to wrap it in aluminum foil,
that way the postal service will not open it.  ::)

Well jeez, if you could've waited a week I gladly would've paid you $12,000 cash.

You see, I've just been informed that a long lost uncle in Tanzania died and left me $500,000.  Who knew, right?
All I had to do was send a cashier's check for $2500 so they can process the check into the country for me.
Well I rushed right down to Western Union and sent off my money.  I won't be able to eat for a few days, but it's a small price to pay.
I should have the big money soon!  Woohoo!

I wonder if anyone has ever actually fallen for one of those scams. I hear about them all the time, but don't know anyone who's actually gotten screwed by one.

No, they won't tell you. ;D
But bet your ... on it that people are doing that,
otherwise there was no reason that they still exist.

If no one had ever fallen for the scam it wouldn't still be as common as it is.

By the way Tramp,  can I borrow 12 grand?  I'll gladly repay you Tuesday! ;D

Yah, a friend knew this type thing was a scam and they sent him a check. It looked really cool and legit. Took it to the bank and they deposited it just to see what would happen. Do to the foreign check it took like 3 weeks or so for it to come back fraudulent. By that time some poor soul could have sent a Western Union $500 to the other end like they sometimes ask for.
